How Much Does a Corporate or Holiday Party DJ Cost in Ontario?

Planning a company holiday party usually means making a lot of decisions at once. There’s the venue, food, drinks, guest list, timing and entertainment — all while trying to stay within a budget.

At some point, someone usually asks a very practical question:

How much does a DJ cost for a corporate or holiday party?

At NightStyle, we keep the answer straightforward. Our corporate and holiday party DJ service is $1,295 + HST for up to five hours.

That includes professional DJ entertainment, sound, a wireless microphone and dance-floor lighting. A mileage charge may apply depending on the location of your event.

Corporate & Holiday Party DJ — $1,295 + HST

Most company holiday parties don't need a complicated entertainment package.

They need good music, professional sound, a microphone when it's needed and a DJ who understands how the evening should progress.

Our $1,295 + HST corporate rate provides up to five hours of DJ entertainment. We arrive with the sound system, wireless microphone and dance-floor lighting required for the event, take care of setup and teardown, and work with you beforehand to understand the schedule and the kind of party you're planning.

For many events, five hours works well. It might be 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., 7 p.m. to midnight or another five-hour period that fits your schedule.

If you need additional time, we can quote that separately.

A mileage charge may also apply depending on the location of your venue, and any unusual event requirements will be discussed before you book.

A Company Holiday Party Isn't a Wedding

Corporate events and weddings are different, and we think the pricing should reflect that.

A full wedding can begin with ceremony audio in the afternoon and continue through cocktails, dinner, speeches, formal dances and a reception that runs until 1 a.m. There is considerable planning and coordination involved throughout the day.

A company holiday party is usually much more straightforward.

Guests arrive, have a drink, catch up with coworkers, enjoy dinner and perhaps listen to a few speeches or presentations. Once the formal part of the evening is finished, the music changes and the party begins.

There usually isn't a ceremony to manage, a wedding timeline to coordinate or the same number of hours involved.

That's why we don't simply charge our wedding price for every event we DJ.

The level of professionalism doesn't change. The job does.

Music From Cocktails Through Dancing

One of the most overlooked parts of a corporate event is the music before anyone starts dancing.

When guests first arrive, they usually want to talk. Some may work together every day, while others might be meeting coworkers from different offices or departments for the first time.

The music should complement that atmosphere rather than compete with it.

During cocktails and dinner, we'll keep the music at an appropriate level and choose something that fits the room. As dinner finishes and the formalities wind down, we can gradually change the direction and energy.

By the time people are ready to dance, the transition should feel natural.

You shouldn't suddenly feel as though the dinner ended and someone turned on a nightclub.

What Music Do You Play at a Company Holiday Party?

There isn't one corporate-party playlist that works for everyone.

One of the challenges of a company event is that the room can include several generations of guests with very different musical tastes.

Someone in their twenties may have a completely different idea of a great party than someone in their fifties. Then there are all the people somewhere in between.

That's where experience becomes useful.

I've been DJing events since 1985, and one thing that hasn't changed is the importance of paying attention to the people in front of you.

We'll talk about your musical preferences before the event, and requests are welcome throughout the evening. But we don't arrive determined to play a predetermined list regardless of what's happening in the room.

If something is working, we'll build on it. If the crowd starts moving in another direction, we'll move with them.

The objective isn't to demonstrate the DJ's taste in music.

It's to find the music your guests want to hear.

Can the DJ Handle Announcements?

Yes.

A wireless microphone is included with our corporate DJ service, and we're happy to make the announcements your event requires.

That could mean welcoming everyone, introducing a speaker, announcing dinner, presenting an award or letting guests know when another part of the evening is about to begin.

If someone from your company would rather handle the microphone, that's perfectly fine too.

Our approach to MCing is professional and understated. We'll speak when there's a reason to speak and stay out of the way when there isn't.

The DJ doesn't need to become the centre of attention.

Why Experience Matters at a Corporate Event

Company parties can be interesting rooms to DJ.

At a wedding, most guests already have a connection to the couple. At a corporate event, you might have executives, new employees, different departments, spouses and people who rarely spend time together outside work.

Sometimes everyone is ready to party immediately.

Sometimes they're not.

Trying to force a dance floor before the room is ready rarely makes things better.

Experience helps with knowing when to increase the energy, when to change direction and when to give people a little more time.

The best corporate parties don't feel heavily managed.

They simply become good parties.

Add a Digital Photo Booth

Our digital photo booth is available as an optional addition for $695 + HST.

It works particularly well at company holiday parties because not everyone wants to spend the entire evening dancing. The booth gives guests another way to participate, and it's something people can return to throughout the night with different groups of coworkers and friends.

Photos are shared digitally rather than printed, making the experience simple for guests.

The photo booth is completely optional. You can book the DJ on its own or add the booth if it makes sense for your event.

Optional LED Uplighting

LED room uplighting is also available for $25 per fixture + HST.

This is separate from the dance-floor lighting included with the DJ service.

Uplighting is used around the room to change the atmosphere of the space itself. It can work particularly well in hotel ballrooms, banquet halls and event spaces that could use a little more warmth or colour once the evening begins.

Not every venue needs it.

If you're unsure, tell us where your event is being held and we'll give you our opinion. We'd rather recommend what works for the room than add lighting simply because it's available.

How Much Should You Budget for a Corporate Party DJ?

For a typical company holiday party requiring up to five hours of DJ entertainment, NightStyle's price is $1,295 + HST.

That includes the DJ, professional sound, wireless microphone, dance-floor lighting, music planning, setup and teardown.

The digital photo booth is available separately for $695 + HST, and LED room uplighting is available for $25 per fixture + HST.

A mileage charge may apply depending on your event location. Additional hours and unusual event requirements can also affect the final quote.

There are no required bundles.

If you only need the DJ, book the DJ.

If a photo booth or uplighting would make the event better, you can add them.

It's your event. Choose what you actually need.
